Trainers

Colleen Moore
When Colleen Moore started volunteering with Smart Dog Training over four years ago, we quickly realized she was very good with dogs and people —a natural fit for teaching people to train their dogs! After attending professional development seminars and endless hours of mentorship with Sherry, she began teaching sections of the courses and helping people one-on-one in the classroom setting. Now, after more development and training she often leads entire classes, and is our go-to-gal for dogs having trouble with specific curriculum behaviours. Colleen brings endless curiosity to dog training and listens well to any dog owner's challenges. Her most recent professional development was at Clicker Expo where she got the taste of Canine Freestyle and we're hoping she will be offering courses soon through SmartDog! Colleen lives with her dog Bean and we hear she's spending some of her spare time studying for the Certification Council For Pet Dog Trainers (CPDT) exam. Go Colleen!

Patricia Parr
Patricia Parr has been training dogs and people for almost 30 years. She herself was trained in a traditional style using primarily punishers such as leash corrections and alpha rolls to get behaviours. She assumed that was the only way to train dogs and learned the process well. But over time she discovered a new way to train; that reinforcement based training was a great way to train dogs in general. But more importantly it also worked to fix her aggressive rescue dog where other methods had failed. She hasn’t looked back since and and has owned and helped innumerable dogs have better lives through humane positive reinforcement training.
Patricia has attended many professional development workshops and most recently attended Karen Pryor’s Clicker Expo with the rest of the Smart Dog pack. She shares her life with three cats and Jeannie the Terrier.

Roberta Press
Roberta Press has always enjoyed working with people. After completing a puppy class with her first dog a few years back, Roberta discovered that she couldn’t learn enough about canine behaviour and the canine mind. She has a keen interest in the relationship between people and their dogs. You’ll find Roberta volunteering her time with Smart Dog on Saturday mornings and the occasional weeknight. A strong believer in Smart Dog’s positive training and problem solving philosophy, Roberta’s goal is to help class go as smoothly as possible for you and your puppy or adult dog.
